Pequeno Príncipe Gala returns to Rio de Janeiro with top culinary talents and a meaningful cause

Event unites haute cuisine and solidarity in support of children’s and adolescents’ health

On October 6, the iconic Belmond Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro will host a memorable evening: the 2025 Pequeno Príncipe Gala. Now in its 16th edition, the event brings together some of Brazil’s most renowned culinary figures in support of a noble cause — raising funds for the healthcare and research initiatives of the Pequeno Príncipe Hospital, the largest and most complete pediatric hospital in Brazil.

This year’s dinner will be crafted by five chefs who exemplify the excellence of Brazilian cuisine: Claude Troisgros, the event’s patron, alongside Roberta Sudbrack, Helena Rizzo, Jessica Trindade, and Wellington Barcellos. Together, they will create a one-of-a-kind culinary experience where flavor and solidarity go hand in hand.

Hosted by Giovanna Ewbank and Bruno Gagliasso, the event will also feature special tributes. Model and entrepreneur Daniella Sarahyba Klabin will be honored for her dedication to social causes, and Dr. José Sampaio Neto — surgeon and head of the Liver Transplantation Service at Pequeno Príncipe Hospital — will be recognized for his impactful scientific work.

The co-chair of the event is philanthropist Daniele Giacomazzi Behring, joined by philanthropic investor Amalia Spinardi Thompson Motta — both long-standing partners of the cause.

With an ambitious fundraising goal, the 2025 Gala aims to sustain two of Pequeno Príncipe Hospital’s core pillars: high-quality care for children and adolescents within Brazil’s Public Health System (known as SUS) and continued investment in cutting-edge scientific research.

Currently, 60% of hospital admissions at Pequeno Príncipe are SUS patients, yet reimbursements cover only about US$ 12 for every US$ 20 spent — resulting in a deficit of over 40% per case. On top of that, Brazil’s national investment in science remains below ideal levels, with less than 1.2% of GDP allocated to research and innovation.

Despite these challenges, Pequeno Príncipe remains steadfast in its mission. Support from events like the Gala is essential for the institution to continue offering highly complex treatments, access to advanced technologies, and new hope for healing to thousands of boys and girls across the country.

“Caring for our children’s health is a responsibility shared by all of society. The Gala proves that when we unite talent, generosity, and purpose, we can transform lives,” says Ety Cristina Forte Carneiro, executive director of Pequeno Príncipe Hospital.
