The Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Gala is now in its 15th edition, reaffirming its purpose of supporting the assistance and research activities of Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe to contribute to the challenge and global goal of reducing infant mortality. The event will be held next Monday, September 30, at Casa Bisutti, in S\u00e3o Paulo, starting at 7 p.m. During the evening, Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe will launch its endowment fund, Futurin, which aims to raise funds to ensure the organization\u2019s sustainability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is will be another meeting to celebrate the life and health of our children. And we will launch our endowment fund to ensure that, in the future, Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe will continue to care for the boys and girls of Brazil with the technical excellence and humanization that they all deserve,\u201d emphasizes the executive director of Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Hospital, Ety Cristina Forte Carneiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bruno Gagliasso and Giovanna Ewbank will be the masters of ceremony and will guide guests through the evening, which will culminate in dinner. Curated by the event\u2019s patron, chef Claude Troisgros, chefs Manu Buffara, Rafa Costa e Silva and Felipe Bronze will prepare an exquisite and exclusive menu.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An auction featuring a variety of items, including Pel\u00e9 memorabilia, will be another opportunity for participants to support the cause of child and youth health. The event will be closed with a vibrant concert by singer Toni Garrido.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Supporters and honorees<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Gala will feature a special moment to recognize great names in philanthropy and science. The event will honor Ana Maria Igel, a Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe supporter,  and the couple Jos\u00e9 Luiz Set\u00fabal and Sandra Mutarelli Set\u00fabal, from the Jos\u00e9 Luiz Egydio Set\u00fabal Foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daniele Giacomazzi Behring and Amalia Spinardi Thompson Motta are the philanthropic supporters of this edition, which has Many Tigre Elache, Marjorie Geiger Hauser and Sylvia Brasil Coutinho as the patronesses.<\/p>\n\n\n

\u201cChildren\u2019s health is experiencing an ongoing and invisible tragedy. Today, in Brazil, for every three babies up to 1-year-old who die, two could be saved with qualified healthcare. Health needs to be on the agenda, as the numbers are challenging. Counting on society\u2019s support is essential to improving these indicators,\u201d points out the Hospital\u2019s executive director.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Challenges, goals and looking to the future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The goal of this edition of the Gala is to raise US$ 300,000, which will be invested in Futurin, the endowment fund that Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe is launching, with a view to ensuring the sustainability of its mission. The proceeds will also be used for assistance and research activities developed at Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe, which allocates 60% of its capacity to serving patients of the Brazilian Public Health System (SUS, abbreviation in Portuguese).<\/p>\n\n\n

Caring for these patients is challenging from a financial point of view, because for every US$ 20 spent on treating each child, the SUS transfers an average of US$ 11.38 to the Hospital. In other words, the deficit is 43% for each treatment provided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Scientific research in Brazil receives truly little incentive or funding. While the average investment in science by developed countries is around 3% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), in Brazil it is less than 1.2%. Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe invests in this sector because it believes that science is the way to find new ways to diagnose and treat complex childhood diseases, contributing to reducing child and adolescent mortality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The performance of these two activities \u2013 providing services to the SUS and investing in research \u2013 has generated a significant financial imbalance for Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe. In 2023, the institution closed the year with a deficit of over US$ 14 million in assistance, without considering the resources raised.
