Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe, the largest and most complete pediatric Hospital in the country, was elected one of the four best hospitals in Brazil in a ranking prepared by the  American magazine Newsweek<\/em>. Concerning the previous classification, the institution from Paran\u00e1 rose seven positions, reaching the 80th place. The category by specialty maintains Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Hospital, for the third consecutive year, as the best exclusively pediatric hospital in Latin America.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year, the list includes 250 hospitals that work with pediatrics worldwide<\/strong>. Of these, 16 are Brazilian <\/strong>\u2013 14 from the state of S\u00e3o Paulo, one from Minas Gerais and Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe, the only one from the South Region in the ranking<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the corporate director of Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Complex, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1lvaro da Silva Carneiro, international recognition in one of the Hospital\u2019s most challenging years has an even more relevant meaning. \u201cWe faced one of the most difficult years financially. We need to highlight that we are a century-old philanthropic institution that, despite the underfunding of the Brazilian Public Health System, we have achieved excellent results,\u201d he states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The executive director of the Hospital, Ety Cristina Forte Carneiro, also highlights the support from partners and the community. \u201cWe have always had the attitude of investing in knowledge, innovation, research, and humanization, and the continued support demonstrates trust and recognition of our work. The pandemic brought us one of the most challenging scenarios, but without the support of individuals and companies that believe in the cause of children\u2019s health, we would not achieve our excellent results. Therefore, we must celebrate this recognition with them, which places us among the first in the world,\u201d she considers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cPequeno Pr\u00edncipe is a unique hospital, not just because of its size, attendance numbers, or all the reference services it offers. Our doctors, nurses, and other health professionals work to value humanization in the face of complex pediatrics,\u201d points out the technical director of Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Hospital, Donizetti Dimer Giamberardino Filho. For him, receiving the impartial vote of international experts who place Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe close to global references also demonstrates the strategic interaction of the Hospital\u2019s multi-professional teams with professionals from all over the world to fulfill the institutional mission of doing the best itself for the benefit of the health of children and adolescents.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To define the \u201c2024 World\u2019s Best Specialized Hospitals\u201d, Newsweek<\/em> considered the online survey, carried out between June and July 2023, with tens of thousands of specialists, including doctors, healthcare professionals, and managers from more than 30 countries. The invitation to participate in the evaluation considered the participants\u2019 professional experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guests were asked to recommend hospitals based on their area of specialization (e.g., cardiology for cardiologists). They could nominate hospitals from an optional secondary area, considering frequent cooperation with that specialty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recommendations relative to hospitals where the professional works were not allowed. In addition to experts\u2019 advice, accreditations, when available, were used as an additional element to the scoring model.
