The recognition considers the performance and contributions arising from the engagement and activities developed during the year 2022 in favor of the climate. The global award had the participation of 15 countries, with 50 awarded organizations \u2013 seven of which are Brazilian.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another achievement was the Friend of the Environment Award, which Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe received for the fourth consecutive year. The Hospital was acknowledged by its Energy Efficiency Program and the Reduction of Carbon Dioxide Emissions. These initiatives seek to reduce and offset greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, substantially increase the share of renewable energies, and propose measures to adapt to climate change, based on biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/pequenoprincipe.org.br\/newsano7\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/PP_News_Ed2_Gala_Materia2_2-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-1494\" width=\"351\" height=\"232\" srcset=\"https:\/\/pequenoprincipe.org.br\/newsano7\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/PP_News_Ed2_Gala_Materia2_2-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/pequenoprincipe.org.br\/newsano7\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/PP_News_Ed2_Gala_Materia2_2-1536x1021.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/pequenoprincipe.org.br\/newsano7\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/PP_News_Ed2_Gala_Materia2_2-1568x1043.jpg 1568w, https:\/\/pequenoprincipe.org.br\/newsano7\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/03\/PP_News_Ed2_Gala_Materia2_2.jpg 1600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 351px) 100vw, 351px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>\u201cPequeno Pr\u00edncipe believes that health needs to be taken care of in its entirety, starting with preventive actions that go beyond the walls of the institution and even involve this attentive look at the environment. This concern with sustainability and the conscious use of natural resources is based on the conviction that a healthy common space is fundamental for people to be healthy today and in the future,\u201d says the corporate director of the Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Complex, Jos\u00e9 \u00c1lvaro da Silva Carneiro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-small-font-size\"><strong>Outstanding environmental actions at Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>first zero mercury hospital in the country, in 2013;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>second hospital in the country to offset its carbon dioxide emissions, in 2021;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>daily energy and water consumption per bed below the national average;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>energy efficiency projects with the state electricity company;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>installation of photovoltaic panels, providing savings of 12% in electricity consumption;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>cisterns for collecting rainwater for reuse;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>composting project that transforms raw organic waste from the Hospital kitchen into organic fertilizer;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>composting 100% of organic waste;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>electronic waste donation for NGO that train vulnerable women;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>joining the Race to Zero campaign, committing to achieve a 50% reduction in its measurable GHG emissions by 2030 and net zero by 2050 or earlier.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Among the 50 awarded organizations, only seven are Brazilian.
