Through telemedicine, Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe, the largest exclusively pediatric hospital in the country, is taking its centenary experience to the care of children and adolescents, residents of regions considered to be of high social vulnerability, who need implementation and reinforcement of specialized pediatric knowledge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first municipality to receive the service is Iguape, a city in the Vale do Ribeira region of S\u00e3o Paulo. Made possible by a direct contract between Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe and the municipality, 186 consultations in general pediatrics will be carried out over six months. Services began in June.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To receive remote care, families need to go to the municipality\u2019s health unit. Teleconsultations are supported by TytoCare, a device that has the ability to perform part of the physical exam remotely. The technology allows measuring the patient\u2019s temperature and heart rate, auscultating the heart, lungs and abdominal region. In addition, it generates images of the throat, ear and skin. The transmission of this data takes place in real time, and they are stored securely. The device was brought to Brazil by the startup Tuinda Care, which is expedited by the pediatric hospitals Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe and Sabar\u00e1, this one located in S\u00e3o Paulo.<\/p>\n\n\n

Paranagu\u00e1<\/strong>
The Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe telemedicine will also be taken to the municipality of Paranagu\u00e1, on Paran\u00e1 coast side, through the Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe Telepediatrics Project, approved by the State Council for the Rights of Children and Adolescents (CEDCA, abbreviation in Portuguese), and with contributions from companies as a result of a tax waiver program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project will benefit children who use the Porto Seguro Basic Health Unit, located in a region with a high density of children and adolescents with a demand for specialized pediatric knowledge support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be moments dedicated to teleconsultation for children in care at the basic health unit, as well as discussion of cases involving the general practitioner of the unit and pediatricians from Pequeno Pr\u00edncipe. On these occasions, more complex cases will be discussed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That very same project will allow service to other municipalities in Paran\u00e1, which are still under study.<\/s><\/p>\n\n\n\n
