Edson Arantes do Nascimento, also known as Pelé or King of Football, is considered the greatest soccer player of all time. Among his many honors is the appellation “Athlete of the 20th Century.” With a brilliant career to his credit and an inestimable number of fans around the globe, Pelé makes important contributions to society, especially those that help children.
During his career, Pelé dedicated his 1,000th goal to the children of the world. Thus was the seed that grew into his support to Little Prince Complex. In September 2005, the partnership was confirmed and in April 2006, the headquarters of Pelé Little Prince Research Institute was dedicated. Thanks to Pelé, Little Prince Complex has gained international recognition for its research on childhood health and disease. All proceeds from his Goals for Life programs go to the Institute’s lifesaving work.
